One of America's largest insurance companies, Northwestern Mutual
has occupied several downtown locations over its lifetime.
Prior to this site, it was at 611 N. Broadway.
Thousands of tons of steel and granite are supported by 6000 wooden
pilings, set into the swampy land underneath.
Newer skyscrapers complete the complex.
