Alexander Eschweiler designed this red/purple brick and sandstone
mansion for Charles Allis, the first president of the Allis
Chalmers Manufacturing Co. The elegant interior features beautiful
walnut and mahogany panelling. Mrs. Allis willed the property
to the City of Milwaukee in 1945, and it is now used as an art
museum.
