- (6 points) A printout of your simulation output showing interesting behavior. You should annotate this printout by hand, explaining why several output values are correct given the inputs and prior state.

- (5 points) A DFF with enable and asynchronous clear is available in Quartus. Create a Quartus project with a block diagram top-level file. Add the “DFFE” component, connecting the PRN active low input to a constant logic 1 (component name VCC). Create all the other DFFE inputs and outputs to input and output objects respectively. Simulate it using the waveform below (it may be easiest to slow down the time scale by a factor of two since the waveform editor by default allows changes in 10 ns and larger intervals (not 5 ns intervals)).

(A full-custom design means that individual logic gates, made out of transistors, are laid out on the chip in a way that can be highly optimized for the particular circuit.)
- (3 points, extra credit, optional) Implement either circuit in Quartus (use any method: schematic or VHDL) and simulate it, verifying correct behavior.

- Draw a digital logic circuit diagram (you may use Quartus, but a hand drawing is recommended) for a modified modulo-7 counter that loops back to 2 after reaching its maximum value. If the counter ever gets into the 0 or 1 state, it should simply count up. Thus, a valid sequence is 0, 1, 2, 3, …, MaxValue, 2, 3, …, MaxValue, 2, 3, … You may use: any type of DFF, any basic logic gate, (AND, OR, XOR, …), half adders, and MUXes. In addition to your class notes, you may want to review section 8.3 of the textbook, especially section 8.3.1.
